Hilltop Sanctuary
Geyserville, CA
Located on a hilltop surrounded by native black oaks, this new house, by architect Nick Noyes, frames views of the surrounding northern California hills.
The beautiful and quiet design of the building required a new landscape that complemented the very subtle design of the new structure. The plants reflect a mixture of native grasses, mediterranean and native perennials, Olive and Arbutus trees, and many dry climate shrubs like Westringia. Areas for gathering, the poolside and fire pit, are located to view the expansive landscape through the native oak trees. The surrounding grasses create a soft and calming effect, especially when the breeze moves the grasses at twilight.
